The SIMSCAN is ideal for scanning objects the size of a coin to medium sized object like engines and sculptures.
The SIMSCAN and the KSCAN-Magic both use blue lasers to scan objects at the metrology-grade level. The difference between the two scanners is that the SIMSCAN does not have the infrared laser for large area scanning and the in-built photogrammetry system.
However, the SIMSCAN differentiates itself by its compact and ergonomic design, a longer depth of field, and a faster scanning rate, resulting in its ability to scan objects in tight and narrow spaces.
The three scanning modes on the SIMSCAN differ in the number and configuration of the lasers. Basically, the higher laser count equates to faster scanning speeds while taking a small dip in accuracy and resolution. However, the scanning modes can be flexibly switched and combined to satisfy different application needs while satisfying the metrology-grade accuracy required for an efficient workflow.
The MSCAN-L15 can help increase the volumetric accuracy by using photogrammetry to capture the position of the markers. Marker positions captured by a photogrammetry system have a higher accuracy which results in better volumetric accuracy when scanning medium sized objects.
